Hi Everyone,

It has been quite a while since I last posted something on here. Two weeks to be exact. This I must admit is rather strange compared to my intentions. This morning I caught myself reflecting upon 2012 – its gifts and challenges and rewards. I decided that I must as well share these with everyone.

2012 started off as being a year of change. It really could not help itself. One could easily top that off with the world ending on December 21 topic as well. Things really were not that for off for me personally.

In January, I had written a poem for a friend. My first poem after two year hiatus from poetry. It had a profound impact on my friend as well as myself. It was then that I had logged into my neglected Facebook account and began reconnecting with the writer and poet friends that I had come to know over the course of the years. It was a sweet blissful reunion – it reminded me that once a writer, always a writer.

In February, I was prompted to participate in a poetry anthology, Beyond The Dark Room. I felt honored working alongside the 20 plus talented poets and our editor, Dr. Pearl Ketover Prilik.

Slowly yet surely my return to writing was over. March heralded regular contributions to my former blog, Through The Eyes of Meena Rose. It also featured a much needed remodel and was prepared for the April frenzy. In April, I took on not one but three poetry related daily writing challenges: NaBloPoMo, NaPoWriMo and April PAD at Writer’s Digest. In addition, I was involved in a platform building challenge hosted by Robert Lee Brewer.

I poured every ounce of spare time into these written endeavors at the cost of exercise and the healthier home cooked meals. This excitement and energy about writing, bled over into May and June. I would ultimately pay the price for this decision late November and December of this year.

Summer’s demands changed my available time to write. I predominantly focused on writing here at Two Voices, One Song. Even then, I had to make concessions to the other world around me. September came and ushered in back-to-school This brought in yet another shift to my schedule.

November came and I had decided that I wanted to do November PAD by Writer’s Digest and NaNoWriMo. I had a great start but I could not really finish due to a life threatening health crisis that started the week before Thanksgiving till mid December.

This latest health crisis has taught me a really important lesson – a lesson in moderation and balance. With the last waning days of 2012 ahead of me, I need to think some more on what I can really do to make 2013 a new beginning that can set a healthy cadence for publication to Two Voices, One Song as well as follow through on the much requested poetry books. This time, though, I will not be compromising other areas of my life in order to incorporate my writing life.

My quest over the next coming days is to figure out what that happy medium is and I will share it with you.

Merry Christmas!

Meena
